Mongol recounts the dramatic and harrowing early life of Genghis Khan.
Born in 1162 and Khan was originally named Temudgin. Forced into slavery the film follows Temudgin from his perilous childhood to the battle that sealed his destiny. This authentic and visual epic is the first installment in a trilogy of films which document the life of Genghis Khan.

This was a great movie, beautifully shot, telling a story that not many people know. I have to say that the story is different to the story I had read about the start of his life, but maybe there is a lot of speculation? It looks superb in HD, and is absolutely stunning in paces. My main issue is the lack of action, so I hope this is only part 1 about his rise to power, and hope the chinese wars follow....
Worth a watch if you can handle subtitles

A decent movie, based (probably quite losely) on historical events, having read all of Conn Igguldens Conqueror series to date, and having enjoyed them i got quite interested in this period of history and I thought this would be worth a watch to compare different peoples views on that time, and, although I prefer the books translation of the great Khan as a character, I must say this one is more likeable from a modern context, a bit more fair minded then you'd expect.....
I think you should watch with an open mind and you will enjoy it. Looks good in High Def, more an epic then an action movie although the fight scenes are well choreographed and work nicely. I'm quite happy with it and I will watch it again. If you do like it and you dont mind reading then get the afforementioned books, you'll like them too.

I had to watch this film twice the first time i didnt think that much of the film. The second time round i actually got the feel of what was happening and was able to concentrate on the film rather than reading the sub titles. The battle scenes are really good and you have to bear in mind that this is the first of 3. Hopefully the other 2 will contain more battle and fight scenes. I gave it a 4 the more i watch it the more i like it.the story itself is quite a sad one how much bad luck can 1 man have and then triumph
