Unfortunately I found this game to have very little in the way of longevity. You progress through the pve side of the game taking very predictable and grindy quests which takes you from one area to the next. The nagging problem is that once youve done all the quests in an area and moved onto the next there is very little reason to return. This makes the game very very linear as you move up the 4 tiers. This whole approach makes the world seem very small as once you are Rank 40 your gaming area is pretty much restricted to tier 4 (this effectivly = 4 maps per race).

So what about the wonderful RVR I hear you shout. effectively each tier has an rvr area where you can go in to kill enemy realm players and capture objectives. In the early tiers these are just flag captures but in the latter tiers they become keeps, forts and castles. The public quest idea starts off as an enjoyable thing to do. But even these become predictable and grindy before to long. Effectively these are large quests that anyone can join simpy by being in the correct area. They are usually broken up into 3-5 stages. The first of these stages tends to be things like kill 150 monsters etc. Like private quests however once you have completed all the PQ's in your area and moved on there is no reason to go back as you have already outlevelled the goodies you can get from the chests.

Oh and another thing to mention is Scenarios. I assure you even the hardiest of PVP'ers will hate the Scenarios after grinding them for a little while. Scenarios are instanced PVP. These are by far the quickest way to grind up levels in this game. You enter them anywhere in the world by clicking the enter scenario button but like everything else in this game you will find it very repetative and grindy very quickly.

I know this game is quite new and im sure the designers have got lots more content to add. In time who knows, maybe this game will one day outshine the now ageing WoW but at the moment I doubt it will survive that long.

Secondly this game isn't World of Warcraft, so don't expect to be doing lots of quests that take you from one area across the game world to another they simply don't happen that often.

As a game it is improving with every update, Mythic genuinely want to make the game as enjoyable for every player as they possibly can. There are still a few small issues with bits of scenery catching you as you move or npc mobs spawning far too quickly in certain areas but as this game isn't that old you should be expecting this.

The games 2 major selling points are its public quests (PQ's) and Realm versus Realm combat (RvR). PQ's are not designed to be done solo, they are there to get groups of players joining together to take down a difficult foe. Grouping is easily done with open groups easily accessible from the moment you start playing. RvR is something else that isn't designed to be a solo event, there is no super class that can beat all others. This game has taken the rock paper scissors approach so any class can be beat by at least 1 other class type.

All in all this game will take people away from World of Warcraft, but not everyone. It has huge potential, and future fixes and additional content will only make the game that much smoother and more enjoyable.
