Review

War was on the horizon. Seeking to strengthen its base of power, the great Archadian Empire had been invading and subjugating its neighboring kingdoms one by one. The small Kingdom of Dalmasca, the stage on which this tale is set, was one such kingdom.
When the occupying Archadian forces established a new consul in Dalmasca's Royal City of Rabanastre, it caught the attention of Vaan, an urchin living on the streets. To Vaan, the Empire was a hated enemy who had taken the life of his brother-his last surviving family member. Vaan hatched a plan to sneak into the castle housing the new consul and pay him a surprise visit of sorts. Once inside, he thought to unburden the consul of one or two of his treasures. But before he would have the chance, Vaan got far more than he bargained for; a resistance movement of former Dalmascan soldiers rising up against the Archadian Empire was launching an assault!

This game gets a lot of flak from die-hard Final Fantasy fans simply because they've changed the battle system slightly. It's still turn based, except everything is done in a realtime kind of way, which actually adds to the fluidity of the gameplay. There aren't any random battles, which was the one thing I actually disliked about previous FF titles. No more annoying battles after every 3 steps you take...This title also sees the addition of a new "hunt" side-quest, which provides a good challenge for those who find the main story quest a little too easy.

The story line plays out like an epic movie, which is to be expected from a Final Fantasy game. The characters are well developed, the plot is well written and exciting. It is very easy to become full immersed in the world of Ivalice. The graphics and cinematics are, as ever, breathtaking.

I fully recommend buying this game.

Oh no *cries* they've lost it

Final fantasy is getting more dissapointing

There changing to much and ruening the game franchise

Ok yes this is a good game but it is not a final fantasy they have changed too much to keep the final fantasy name
You just cant change practically 80% of final fantasys gameplay and good ideas
Ya know thats like mario going war sim or something
Super mario war simulation lol it just doesnt quite work

Sorry square but im a hardcore ff fan but lately your losing it
:( Bring back the old ways there way better

And if final fantasy 7 the remake is anything like 12 then i'll officially denounce my fandom and never buy a final fantasy again
And neither will alot of people

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Amazing in every way

Quite a few final fantasy fans disliked this game due to the battle system being slightly different compared to the previous ones. No random encounters plus a few other factors. However i thought this made a nice change as it was something fresh rather than the same thing all over again not that i disliked the random encounters. Also i felt the boss battles were more intense and there is a gambit system which is extremely useful.
I have played final fantasy 7, X, X-2 and 12 (I plan on starting 8 and 9 soon) so far 12 is my favourite (Although i don't think the story is as good as 7 or X i still think the gameplay is a liitle better and its by far the final fantasy i have spent the most time playing). Don't get me wrong i do love 7 and X almost as much but 12 is my favourite.
